Rupa Roy Saha — A Dream That Refused to Die

Rupa Roy Saha, our founder was born in Falakata, She grew up in a humble home, but from the earliest years of her life, she carried something rare inside her — an unshakeable sense of purpose.

As a young girl, she would watch her mother drape sarees with effortless grace — the shimmer of Baluchari, the softness of Tant, the quiet dignity of Muslin — and she felt, even then, that there was something sacred in these textiles. She did not just see fabric. She saw stories. She saw the hands of weavers who gave their entire lives to their craft. She saw India’s soul.

The road to her dream was not easy. There were years of uncertainty, quiet failures, and moments that tested her resolve to its very limits. Doors closed. Plans fell apart. The world gave her every reason to stop. But Rupa never stopped. She chose, again and again, to get back up. She sharpened her passion with knowledge, earning a Diploma in Fashion and Interior Designing from NIFD — National Institute of Fashion Design, presented by IIFM, Siliguri. She travelled to weavers’ villages, sat with artisans, and learned directly from the people who keep India’s textile traditions alive.

And then, at the age of 50 — when the world might expect one to slow down — Rupa Roy Saha began. She launched Rupkatha Boutique not as a business, but as a calling. A promise. A love letter to India’s weaving heritage and to every woman who deserves to wear something truly authentic.

Rupkatha — meaning ‘a story of beauty’ in Bengali — was born from five decades of living, dreaming, falling, and rising. Every saree we carry holds a piece of that journey.

Our Mission

At Rupkatha Boutique, we are on a mission that goes beyond selling sarees. We are here to protect the truth of Indian craftsmanship and to bring it — without compromise — directly to you.

Every saree in our collection is 100% authentic and 100% handpicked — personally sourced from the nooks and corners of this incredible country, directly from the looms and hands of the people who weave them. No middlemen. No adulteration. No shortcuts. Ever.

We have walked through weaving lanes in Varanasi and Kanjivaram. We have sat with artisans in Chanderi and Dhakai. We have watched old hands thread silk with a precision that no machine can replicate. And we have brought those masterpieces home — to you.
